Day 1 Arrive Lusaka
Welcome to Zambia! Upon arrival in Lusaka today, you will be met and transferred to your hotel, where the remainder of the day is at leisure.
Day 2 Lusaka-Mfuwe | Meals: LD
This morning, a light aircraft flight takes you to Mfuwe Lodge, at the entrance to South Luangwa National Park. After time to settle in, enjoy a game drive.
The open-plan design of Mfuwe's new structures keeps the comfort and relaxation of guests in mind, but also capitalizes on the fact that an African wilderness experience is a blend of colors and textures, sounds, aromas and sights unmatched anywhere else in the world.
The open plan central lodge facility incorporates reception, lounge, dining and bar areas, under a thatch roof supported by palm poles and dominated by two impressive chimneys at opposite ends. This cool and airy central meeting place is the heart of the lodge. It opens onto a broad timber deck that cantilevers dramatically over the main lagoon. From the comfort of the Lodge guests may view some of Africa's majestic wildlife as animals come down to drink. Elephant, hippopotamus, many antelope species and crocodiles are plentiful in this area.
The deck area in front of the lounge accommodates the swimming pool which also overlooks the main lagoon. In between game drives, walks and meals, guests may relax around the pool or in the unique library which is entirely dedicated to nature conservation related issues, African culture, tradition and history. The library also include a video library and has its own timber deck which overlooks the main lagoon. Here people can read or write in peace and soak up the tranquillity of Africa at its best.
Accommodation is provided in 18 open-plan chalets, each with en-suite bathroom. One third of each chalet's perimeter can be opened, to allow the guest to enjoy the views, the sounds, the scents and the mood of the African wilderness. Each chalet has a large private deck overlooking one of the lagoons.
The bathrooms have both bath and shower, with separate toilet. The bathing corner can be completely opened to offer guests an open-air bathing experience.
Each room has a private bar. The thatched roof has been designed to guarantee maximum ventilation, even though all rooms on the lagoon are dramatically sheltered by huge ebony trees.
The lodge also has an open boma for dinners under starlit African skies and earnest talk around the campfire. Activities from the lodge include day and night game drives; lion and leopard are often seen. The lodge offers walking safaris for closer contact with the game and exceptional bird watching

The South Luangwa Valley is one of Africa's most extraordinary game viewing spots. Game drives in this area are thrilling as the concentration and variety of game is amazing. Did you know that zebras in this area look a bit different than those found in East Africa? Here, their stripes tend to be a bit closer together.

A drive takes you further south today, into the heart of the South Luangwa Valley for 3 nights at your choice of camp or lodge. Tucked into picturesque settings along a river or nestled under a canopy of huge old mahagony trees, these camps provide the creature comforts while getting you close to nature. Game viewing will be spectacular over the few days.
Zungulila is a charming camp that embodies the essence of old Africa and a bygone era, with breathtaking views onto the Kapamba river and an expansive plain where natural springs attract huge herds of game. Zungulila is eminently peaceful, and you may be tempted to stay forever!

Hippos are amazing animals and the number of hippos you'll actually spot in the Valley is staggering. Some say that there are 50 hippos every 2-3 feet along the Luangwa River. Keep your eye out for the beautiful Kudu whose spiral horns reach gracefully to the sky.

Day 6 South Luangwa Valley | Meals: BLD
Another full day to search for game. Another "special" animal to watch for is the Thornicroft's giraffe. These giraffe differ from the Maasai or Rothschild's giraffe - their legs below their knees are almost white and their faces are quite light or white. The main part of their body is covered in dark patches, while their neck is covered in lighter patches.

After breakfast, drive to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Livingstone. Continue by road across the bridge and into Victoria Falls, where your lodge sits close enough to hear the Falls roar. Later, enjoy a sunset cruise on the Zambezi.

Perhaps most impressive is the sight (and sound) of more than 1 million gallons of water per minute crashing into the gorge below. Later, visit a nearby village where you have the opportunity to experience village life that has been virtually unchanged over 300 years.
