Day 2 Nairobi | Meals: BL
Be ready for a heart-warming experience as you visit the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, part of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. During your visit you'll meet some of the very special team of elephant handlers who live 24/7 with the elephants and take the place of their lost elephant family. It is an emotional and inspiring visit.
Enjoy lunch and then continue to the Karen Blixen home. You have time to walk the grounds and picture life in the days the famous author of "Out of Africa" lived here. The museum was established in 1985 to commemorate the life of Baroness Karen Blixen, whose story was told in her book, Out of Africa. As you walk through the home and stroll the grounds, you might also see some replicas that appeared in the famous movie, "Out of Africa".
Then it's on to feed the giraffes at the Giraffe Center. You will have an opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the giraffes by feeding them from a specially built elevated platform. When the giraffes hear the familiar sound of pellets being poured, they will quickly stick their head in to be first for a treat.

This morning, transfer to Wilson airport for the scheduled flight to Amboseli. A camp vehicle is on hand to take you into camp. After lunch, enjoy an afternoon game drive.

This is Ernest Hemingway country. Amboseli provided Hemingway and writer Robert Ruark with the inspiration to write their magnificent tales of the big game hunting in the wilds of Africa. This is also Maasai country, where the Maasai and their cattle graze freely alongside wildlife. It is not unusual to see manyattas (Maasai villages) scattered across the open country.
Among the big game you might encounter are buffalo, lion, gazelle, cheetah, wildebeest, hyena, jackal, warthog, Maasai giraffe, zebra and baboon. There is also a good chance of seeing black rhino.
But Amboseli is perhaps most famous for its huge herds of elephant, which lumber silently across the open plains. There is perhaps nothing as memorable a sight in Africa as one of these mighty giants silhouetted against a glorious sunset, with snow-capped Kilimanjaro in the background.

Your flight departs Amboseli early this morning. Connect in Nairobi to your flight bound for the Masai Mara. A camp vehicle will be waiting at the airstrip for you. After lunch and time to settle in, enjoy an afternoon game drive.
Located on the banks of a river from which it has taken its name, Sand River Masai Mara is located within the Masai Mara National Reserve, close to the Tanzanian border.
Situated on a secluded and picturesque site, Sand River Masai Mara replicates the heyday of exclusive permanent tented camps of the late 1920’s.
The interior fixtures and furnishings mirror this period perfectly, reminding all who visit of those countless Hollywood movies that have paid homage to a classic era of African adventure.

Day 6 & 7 Masai Mara | Meals: BLD
For the next two days, explore the Mara on your three daily game drives. Set out early in the morning for game viewing at dawn, returning to the camp for breakfast and a short siesta. A midday game drive returns before lunch and a later afternoon game drive returns just in time for sundowners.
Because of the Mara's varied landscape (from forests to open plains), it supports a great variety of wildlife. You will almost certainly see the Big Five here - can you name them? (They are lion, buffalo, elephant, leopard and rhino.) Did you know that the name "Big Five" is not based on the size of the animals, but rather goes back to the early hunting days, when these five animals were the most prized for hunters? You will also see an abundance of plains game, among them wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, topi and gazelle. Can you tell the difference between a Masai giraffe and a reticulated giraffe? (The markings of a Masai giraffe are muted, so that the lines almost appear to run together, while the reticulated giraffe markings are very distinct, almost forming individual boxes.)
Bird-lovers take note --the Mara is also a haven for a wide variety of birds -- almost 500 species have been recorded. Be on the lookout for eagles -- over 16 species may be found, as well as six species of vultures, 8 of stork, 4 of bustard (including the Kori bustard) and nine species of sunbird. Frequently spotted is the exquisite lilac-breasted roller.

An exciting day awaits as you travel to Chobe National Park for game viewing by land and by water. Your first game sighting is from The Chobe River, teaming with animals, game viewing from the relaxing vantage point of a boat. You're on the mighty Chobe River which flows through the renowned Chobe National Park providing a haven for herds of grazing animals and bird life. Just sit back, relax, and keep those binoculars handy. When we disembark, we join our open safari vehicle for a drive through the Chobe Game Reserve with the chance of seeing more wildlife and birdlife, and a delicious lunch at a lodge awaiting us. Return to Victoria Falls later today.

An exciting day begins with a visit to the "smoke that thunders", amazing Victoria Falls. Stop at various lookout points to try and take that perfect photo - but watch out for the spray from the Falls. You will quickly see what this is one of the seven Natural Wonders of the World. Your walking tour takes you through the misty rain forest which flanks the Falls. Stop and listen to the power of millions of gallons of water crash into the gorges below. Continue on to a nearby village to learn about customs that have been carried on generation to generation. You will have an opportunity to visit an actual homestead in the village and talk to those who live and work there. As you leave, you can browse the village curio shop filled with a wide variety of homemade crafts.
